BYU faculty may check out up to 100 items for a period of 26 weeks, and renew items online four times. For more information about borrowing privileges and polices go to http://lib.byu.edu/about/checkout-privileges/.
Check out materials at the General Help Desk on Level 3 or at any Help Desk on each level of the library. There is also a self-checkout machine available on Level 3 next to the General Help Desk. Or have items delivered to you by Faculty Delivery Service.
Request books and articles from other libraries via Interlibrary Loan (ILL). In most cases you can make the request from the database or catalog you are searching in by clicking on the icon for ILL or "Get it at BYU." Here's a link to the ILL site https://illiad.lib.byu.edu/illiad/ as well. Enter your BYU NetID and password when prompted.
Books are typically available for pick up within 5-7 business days.
Articles are typically ready to download within 2-3 business days.
You can also use the ILL function to request articles and book chapters found in HBLL owned items. They will be copied and delivered to you as PDFs via E-mail.
Article Delivery Services offers research assistance by scanning and sending PDFs of articles and book chapters from the HBLL directly to you via email.
Request articles or book chapters through the ILLiad website and they will be sent to you via email within about 36 hours.
The Faculty Expedited Orders Service endeavors to acquire and deliver new books within 10 working days for rush orders. These should be books that the BYU libraries do not currently hold and which would enhance university teaching and research efforts. The service is limited to all English language books distributed in the U.S.
