Biblical scholarship played an integral role in the European Renaissance and Reformation period. L. Tom Perry Special Collections at Brigham Young University actively acquires manuscript and early printed Bibles which illustrate the history of textual scholarship, translation, and the role of the Bible in vernacular literature during the middle ages and early modern period. This guide provides a sampling of important early Bibles held in Special Collections. Other items not included in this site, including later printings of the Bible and LDS Bible scholarship, can be found by searching the library catalog.
These historic materials are open to students, faculty, and other researchers for use in Special Collections' reading room. University faculty may also arrange with the curator for class presentations of these materials in Special Collections.
