To begin your family history journey, start with what you know and try the suggestions below:

  • Gather information, documents and pictures from your records and from relatives
  • Look at what information is available about your family on FamilySearch
  • Look at sources and memories attached to your ancestors to understand more about them
  • Find additional records to attach as sources to the your ancestors
  • Share the information, documents, and pictures you have gather as memories or sources

Ancestry's Red Book and The Source are premier reference books for United States genealogy research
