The Society for Animation Studies (SAS) is an international organization dedicated to the study of animation history, theory and practice. It was founded by Dr. Harvey Deneroff in 1987. Each year, the SAS holds an annual conference at locations throughout the world, where members present their recent research.

ASIFA (Association Internationale du Film d’Animation) was founded in 1960 in Annecy, France as an association of individual animation artists. Today ASIFA can be described as an international network of numerous local ASIFA Chapters, which have developed their own local identities and special activities.
ASIFA is at the forefront of International Animation Day every 28th October, facilitating film exchanges around the globe and encouraging celebrations of the art of animation in every local chapter.

Founded in 1995, WIA is the only organization dedicated to advancing women in the field of animation. We envision a world where women share equally in the creation, production and rewards of animation, and we provide resources and connections to make it happen.
