Course description

Course Description: Basic music notation, simple and complex rhythmic patterns, and polyrhythms; analysis of selected international music styles; brief historical survey.

Course Outcomes: Demonstrate an understanding of basic musical concepts through physical movement.

Acquire improved awareness of his/her physical responses to music.

Demonstrate the ability to utilize music appropriately in the technique class and collaborate with musicians.

Demonstrate musical awareness by creating appropriate movement to odd meter music and binary/ternary rhythms. 

Acquire improved listening skills to use music to stage or create choreography.
