Sewing Machine Specifics

We have a basic Domestic Machine.

Our Machine is able to sew

  • Straight line
  • Zig-zag stitch
  • Button hole
  • Backstitch
  • Serpentine stitch
  • Blind hem

Remember:

  • Stitch with presser foot down
  • Never stitch without fabric
  • Backstitch at beginning and end to "knot" your stitches

We have a Juki DDL-8700 high speed straight stitch machine

Our Machine is able to sew

  • Straight line
  • Backstitch
  • With slightly thicker thread
  • Through slightly thicker material

Remember:

  • Stitch with presser foot down
  • Never stitch without fabric
  • Backstitch at beginning and end to "knot" your stitches
  • To get fabric out of the machine once finished, hand wheel until silver part is at the top (ask employee)

We have a Juki MI9800S serger

  • The serger cuts and finishes the edge of fabric simultaneously
  • This works well with most fabric types but works specifically well with knits
  • If material is too thick it can damage machine or serge incompletely

Remember:

  • Only light grey thread available for the serger
  • The presser foot should always be down!
  • When starting to serge, line it up and the machine will naturally feed your fabric in
  • Sew past what you need (keep serging once finished) so that we don't have to rethread

We have a Juki LU-1508NH

Our Machine is a heavy duty walking foot machine

  • Suitable for sewing leather and other sturdy materials
  • Can also be useful for sewing thick fabric, or fabric with many layers

Remember:

  • This machine is powerful! It can easily stitch through your finger so please be careful when using it
  • Stitch with presser foot down
  • Never stitch without fabric
  • Backstitch at beginning and end to "knot" your stitches

We have a Juki LZ 271 Free-motion Embroidery machine

  • This machine is different from other embroidery machines because you are actively creating the designs
  • There is a lot that you can do with this machine but it likely will take some effort to learn how to use
