Welcome

The HBLL provides access to many resources dealing with ecological design and building. Much of the content is available online through paid databases or in the form of ebooks.

As you search you'll notice that the location of physical resources are in various places in the library - mostly on the 2nd floor (TH call #'s are Building Construction), with Architecture on the 5th floor (NA call #'s).

Sustainable / Green Building Online Resources

U.S. EPA Green Building
Basic information on green building with links to government publications and funding opportunities. Also contains links to many other government and private websites with additional information - click Additional Resources on the left.
The Green Building Initiative
The Green Building Initiative (GBI) is a not for profit organization whose mission is to accelerate the adoption of building practices that result in energy-efficient, healthier and environmentally sustainable buildings by promoting credible and practical green building approaches for residential and commercial construction
US Green Building Council
The USGBC is a non-profit group with a goal of making "green buildings available to everyone within a generation". The site includes links to research and educational materials related to green building as well as information on joining the organization. It is also the location for information on LEED certification (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design).

Example Searches

Here are some example searches on the HBLL website illustrating how to find different types of materials (e.g. books, articles, news) from different providers. The number of vendors means that it is not always exactly the same experience, but we try.

Collection of case studies collected (mostly) from GreenSource: The Magazine of Sustainable Design organized by building type.
Many quality illustrations and photos. The HBLL has a print version that may be useful if this online version has low resolution scans.
