3D Printing Guide: Finding Existing 3D Objects

How to utilize the Library's 3D printers.

Object Databases

If you don't want to create your own 3D design, there are online databases of 3D models that other users have created and submitted for public use. Sometimes the part you may need for your project has already been designed and is available for free from one of these databases.

  • Thingiverse Logo - This is one of the most popular websites containing designs for 3D printing.  The models here are designed to be 3D printed.  These models are user-created and user-submitted, so their quality can vary.

  • GrabCAD logo - This is a library of 3D CAD drawings available for public use.  Not all of these files were designed to be 3D printed, so it is important to read the description and the comments for an object before you select a file.

  •  Another site to find models that lets you orbit around the object and tells how printable the object is.
