Research Methods

SAGE Research Methods (SRM) supports research at all levels by providing material to guide users through every step of the research process.

  • Learn about qualitative and quantitative research methods.

    • Qualitative research: SAGE’s popular Qualitative Research Methods series -- Little Blue Books -- are short texts on all kinds of qualitative methods. These brief volumes address a full range of advanced qualitative topics including writing up qualitative research, participatory action research, feminist fieldwork analysis, discourse analysis, and ethnography.

    • Quantitative research: SAGE’s popular Quantitative Applications in the Social Sciences series -- Little Green Books -- are short texts on quantitative methods. Want to learn about analysis of variance? We have a Little Green Book for that! These brief volumes address a spectrum of advanced quantitative topics including regression, models, data analysis, experimental design, measurement, survey data, and more.

  • SRM Cases are stories of how real research projects were conducted. The collection provides more than 1,100 case studies, showing the challenges and successes of doing research, written by the researchers themselves.

  • SRM Datasets is a collection of teaching datasets and instructional guides that give students a chance to learn data analysis by practicing themselves.

  • SRM Video contains more than 125 hours of video, including tutorials, case study videos, expert interviews, and more, covering the entire research methods and statistics curriculum.
