Most disciplines have well known repositories where researchers upload and share their data. This practice promotes open science and allows others to potentially reused data for new or collaborative efforts.
Before most data is ready for analysis, a certain amount of preprocessing is necessary. The following tools help with various preprocessing steps. Several specifically help create annotations during text mining research.
Data analysis tools can help derive meaning from your data. The tools listed below help analyze quantitative, qualitative, and/or corpora data.
Data visualization tools can help you more easily detect important patterns in data and clearly communicate the message of the data to others.
A. General Purpose Tools
Many tools noted above for preparing and analyzing data have visualizing capabilities as well.
B. Network Graphing Tools
C. GIS (Geographic Information Systems help capture, analyze, and visualize data in the context of its surrounding geography)
