  • “browsing” call number for Mary Shelley in the BYU Library: PR 5397 - 5398
  • search by call number or browse by “shelf-list” (from any book record, click on “Nearby Items on Shelf”)
  • for a “subject” search (of secondary literature) in the BYU Library catalog (the best way to see everything the library has on an author, director, etc): click on down arrow to go to Advanced Search; type in the person’s name <Shelley Mary>, select Subject as field to search and click on search
  • (you might also want to check the author’s other primary work: type in <Shelley Mary>, select Author/Creator for field
  • use Advance Search to combine subjects, key words, etc. Some subject terms for literature & film:
    • motion pictures and literature
    • film adaptations

  • use Advance Search to combine subjects, words in titles, etc. Ex. Subject: <gothic> AND Anywhere: <Popular Culture>
  • for a “subject” search in the BYU LIbrary catalog (the best way to see everything the library has on an author, artists, composer, etc): use terms such as in <popular culture>, and/or <nineteen sixties>
